Agartala, July 20, 2023: In an effort to curb unethical practices by certain traders, a relentless crackdown campaign has been launched by authorities on Thursday. Officials from the Sadar Sub-District and Food Department joined forces to sweep through Barjala, reaching all the way to Natunnagar market, aiming to root out the sale of expired and substandard goods.

During the operation, the task force found several shops selling expired goods, including essential commodities like rationed items and canned products. The seized goods were promptly discarded to prevent their further circulation in the market.

In one restaurant, authorities even recovered a domestic gas cylinder, raising questions about its legitimacy. Three shop owners were issued notices for their involvement in such unethical practices.

The crackdown has been implemented to control the inflation of commodity prices caused by the sale of substandard products. The authorities are determined to maintain strict vigilance to ensure that traders comply with regulations, especially those related to the quality and expiration of goods.

While the crackdown is ongoing, the public is urged to report any suspicious activities or the sale of expired products to the authorities. As the campaign continues, it is expected to send a strong message to dishonest traders and establish a fair and safe marketplace for consumers.
