Agartala, 21st February 2024:  A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, Prasenjit Datta, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday after a bike accident in Agartala. He was 32 years old.

Datta, who hailed from Matabari area of Udaipur, was returning home from Agartala on February 18 when his bike collided with a truck near the airport. He was rushed to GB Hospital and later shifted to ILS Hospital for better care. However, despite the best efforts of the doctors, he could not survive and breathed his last on Wednesday morning.

Datta’s mortal remains were brought to his residence in Matabari this afternoon, where a large number of people, including his family, friends, neighbours, and CRPF colleagues, paid their last respects. Many were seen shedding tears and consoling each other as they bid farewell to the brave jawan.

Datta had joined the CRPF in 2014 and was posted in Assam. He is survived by his wife and two children. He was described by his neighbours as a friendly and helpful person who always cared for others.

The CRPF and the state government have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of all possible assistance. A case has been registered against the truck driver, who fled the scene after the accident. The police are investigating the matter and trying to nab the culprit.
