CS, CEO inaugurate ‘Cyclothon for Democracy, Ride to Vote’, vows for peaceful poll

Agartala, 7th April 2024:    Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha of Agartala urged voters to approach the upcoming Lok Sabha and by-elections in Tripura with a festive spirit, assuring that all necessary arrangements have been made for a smooth and peaceful process.

The by-election is set to take place in the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency following the untimely passing of BJP MLA Surajit Datta.

Chief Secretary Sinha inaugurated a bicycle rally titled ‘Cyclothon for Democracy, Ride to Vote,’ held at Umakanta Academy premises today, organized by the West Tripura District Election Officer’s office to raise awareness among voters through the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation Programme.

During the rally, Chief Secretary Sinha lauded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of every voter participating in the election with enthusiasm.

“We encourage all eligible voters to cast their ballots on April 19 and 26, fostering a celebratory atmosphere. Our aim is to ensure a peaceful and successful election process, as witnessed in the past. The people of Tripura have demonstrated exemplary participation in previous elections,” Sinha remarked to reporters.

Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal, also present at the event, highlighted the rally’s objective of encouraging voter turnout for the 1-Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency on April 19, the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency by-election, and the 2-Tripura East (ST) Parliamentary Constituency on April 26.
