Damaged bridge at Mandai: Locals demand immediate repair

Date:

Agartala, 17th June 2026:  A damaged bridge on the main connecting road at Bishwaram Begram Para under the Mandai Assembly constituency area has become a major concern for local residents, with its sidewall remaining collapsed for nearly five months.

According to residents, despite repeated appeals to the concerned department and administration, no repair work has been initiated so far. The bridge serves as a crucial route for people travelling daily to schools, colleges, hospitals, and markets.

Locals expressed concern that the damaged portion has increased the risk of accidents, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season. They alleged that the issue was brought to the notice of Swapna Debbarma and Jagadish Debbarma, but no effective steps have been taken yet.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, residents demanded immediate restoration of the bridge and proper safety measures. They warned that any further delay could lead to a serious accident.

The locals urged the administration and the concerned authorities to take urgent action to repair the bridge in the interest of public safety.
