Daylight theft at Algapur: Cash and jewelry stolen, investigation underway

Agartala, 16th May 2025:  A shocking daylight theft took place in Ward No. 1 of Algapur village, Dharmanagar subdivision today around 11 AM. The incident took place at the residence of Debajit Chakraborty, where miscreants reportedly broke open a locker and fled with approximately Rs 10,000 to 12,000 in cash and gold jewelry. 

At the time of the theft, Debajit was at North Tripura District Hospital, Dharmanagar on business, while his father was also away from home. Eyewitnesses from a neighboring house spotted the crime and immediately alerted Debajit over the phone. 

Following the incident, personnel from Dharmanagar police station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The theft has triggered panic among residents, who are urging authorities to strengthen security measures in the locality.
