Dead Body of Housewife Found Stuffed in Sack in Teliamura; Police Launch Probe

Agartala, 5th October 2025 :   Tension gripped the Mela Pathar area under Teliamura Police Station on Saturday late evening after the body of a woman was recovered from inside a sack in her house.

According to local sources, residents of the area reported a foul smell emanating from the house earlier in the evening and immediately informed Teliamura Police. Upon arrival, police discovered the decomposed body of a housewife stuffed inside a sack.

Preliminary investigation led police to bring in the woman’s father, Ratan Chandra Mudok, a resident of Rajnagar, for identification. He identified the deceased as his daughter Sharmistha Modok, aged around 36, who had been living alone in the house.

Police said that Sharmistha was previously married to Gautam Banik, a resident of Kanchanpur. The couple later divorced, and she subsequently remarried Gopal Modok, with whom she had been residing in the same house.

The discovery of her body has caused widespread sensation in the locality. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of her death.
