Agartala , 1st November 2026 : The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) is facing questions over the delay in declaring the final results for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in government general degree colleges across the state. While the selection and posting process for candidates interviewed in the first phase has already been completed, candidates who appeared in the second phase are still waiting for the final results, triggering growing frustration and uncertainty among aspirants.
The TPSC issued Advertisement No. 05/2025 in 2025 for the recruitment of 201 Assistant Professors in various subjects under the Higher Education Department of the Tripura government for government general degree colleges. Interviews for different subjects were conducted in phases.
According to information available, interviews for the first phase were held between May 28 and June 25, 2026, covering subjects such as Education, History, Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Human Physiology, Environmental Science, English, Sanskrit, Hindi, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, among others.
Subsequently, on July 21, the TPSC published the final selection list of 74 eligible candidates.
Following the declaration of the results, the Higher Education Department initiated the process of issuing offer letters and collecting consent forms and other necessary documents from the selected candidates. On October 14, posting letters along with dates for joining were handed over to the selected candidates at a programme held at Pritilata Bhavan. As per the available information, the joining process at their respective institutions commenced on October 30.
However, candidates belonging to the second phase, including those who appeared for interviews in Bengali, Botany, Commerce, Physical Education, Political Science, Philosophy, ETCE, Zoology and Defence Studies, are yet to see their final results declared.
The second-phase interviews were conducted from August 17 to September 9 and continued thereafter. However, despite the completion of the interview process, no final selection list has been published so far, according to the concerned candidates.
Candidates have questioned why there is such a significant gap in the declaration of results and subsequent recruitment when both groups are part of the same recruitment notification and selection process. While the first-phase candidates have already received their appointment-related documents and posting orders, the future of the second-phase candidates remains uncertain.
Several candidates have expressed concern that the delay is affecting their personal lives, future career plans and professional prospects.
