Agartala, 23rd April 2025: Swiggy (Swiggy Ltd, NSE: SWIGGY / BSE: 544285), India’s pioneering on-demand convenience platform, partnered with the Traffic Police Department in Agartala to conduct a Road Safety Awareness Session for delivery partners, under the ambit of Delivering Safely, its road safety charter.
The session was led by DSP Pranab Das along with Traffic SI Kamal Roy and aimed to sensitize delivery executives on safe driving practices, adherence to traffic rules, and proactive risk management on roads. A total of 41 delivery executives participated in the session. This initiative was well-received by the authorities, who appreciated Swiggy’s efforts in creating awareness among gig workers and contributing to community safety.
“India has witnessed an increase in the number of road accidents and fatalities over the last 2 years. India has the highest number of road accidents fatalities globally. Under the charter of Delivering Safely, Swiggy is committed to the welfare and safety of its delivery partners and partners with police authorities to conduct various road safety awareness programs across the country. The objective is to enhance traffic road safety and ensure that delivery partners follow traffic rules at all times. We are thankful to the support extended by the Agartala Traffic Police and hope to improve traffic sensitization and enhance safety of delivery partners who are one of the key pillars of our business,” said Shalabh Shrivastava, Senior Vice President, Drivers Organization, Swiggy.
Swiggy continues to conduct such programmes across India, in collaboration with city police departments, to create a safer ecosystem for its delivery fleet and the communities they serve. All delivery partners are covered under road insurance and receive safety training as part of the onboarding process, alongside continued awareness initiatives throughout the year. In 2025, Swiggy had conducted a number of Road Safety Awareness Sessions for delivery partners across cities including Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mysore.
