Deplorable road plague Amarpur-Karbuk, Gandachara route; Locals express outrage

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, August 09: The Amarpur-Karbook road in Gandacherra has transformed into a waterlogged ordeal, leaving pedestrians and motorists grappling with the consequences of years of neglect. For nearly three to four years, the road’s deteriorating condition has been a subject of complaint among locals and drivers, culminating in a dire situation that has drawn significant community frustration.

After initial attempts to rectify the situation by blocking off the road for repairs, progress hit a roadblock. The repairs were discontinued midway due to a glaring oversight – the absence of proper drainage systems alongside the brick-laying process. This lapse has now turned the road into a reservoir for rainwater, rendering it practically impassable and exacerbating the already dire situation.

Motorists are struggling with their vehicles’ deteriorating condition, attributing mechanical issues to the road’s uneven surface. The road’s hazardous state has also contributed to a surge in minor vehicular accidents, prompting urgent calls for comprehensive repairs. Ambulances, critical for timely patient transportation, are also grappling with the compromised road conditions.

With frustration mounting, locals find themselves trapped in a cycle of uncertainty due to the lack of a clear timeline for the contractor’s return to complete the work. As each day passes, the road becomes a symbol of chaos, underscoring the urgent need for intervention. The Amarpur-Karbook, Gandacherra community’s resentment continues to grow as they await a resolution that addresses not only the immediate flooding crisis but also the broader concerns of years of neglect.
