Agartala: August 09. In a strong display of solidarity and outrage, the Pradesh Congress Committee organized a rally on Wednesday to condemn a recent incident in Manipur, which the committee deemed a gross insult to the nation and a stain on human civilization.

The procession, which commenced from the Muktdhara premises in the capital, attracted a significant turnout of concerned citizens who joined hands to protest against the distressing occurrence.

Led by prominent figures including MLA Sudip Roy Barman and other Pradesh Congress leaders, the procession wound its way through the city, making several rounds as participants voiced their concern and displeasure.

Speaking to the media during the event, MLA Roy Barman shared that extensive investigations had been conducted into the incident, underscoring the seriousness with which the Congress leaders were approaching the issue.

A prevailing sentiment among the rally attendees was the observation of underdevelopment across the country, prompting a growing recognition of the Congress as a platform for addressing these concerns.

MLA Sudip Roy Barman emphasized that the progress of tribal communities was intrinsically tied to the Congress, positing that no other party seemed as dedicated to their welfare. The people of the state, it was noted, had lost faith in alternative political entities, leading to an increased reliance on the Congress to address their aspirations.

Drawing attention to a pending legislative matter, Bill No. 125 in Parliament, Sudip Roy Barman pointedly remarked that while Manipur grappled with significant challenges and unrest, the prime minister’s focus appeared to be elsewhere—namely, election campaigns. This prioritization of politics over pressing issues was criticized by the Congress leaders who demanded government action to restore peace and stability in Manipur.
