Agartala: September 18. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma has inaugurated the 11th bio village of the state under Charilam Block which is perhaps the first Bio village 2.0 in minority village.

On Facebook DyCM said, “Inaugurated 11th Bio village of the state in Hafaziamura and Puranbari under Charilam RD block. The initiative was implemented by the Directorate of Biotechnology. A total of 66 families have been selected on saturation mode. They will be provided components like biotech kit , electrical gadgets, Goatlings, biogas, fish fingerling, biomass cookstove, ducklings etc”.

He further said that in today’s inauguration programme biotech kit, fish fingerling, electrical gadgets, vegetable seeds, biomass cook stove were distributed among the beneficiaries.

Sources said that the department under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister, works for 10 bio villages are under way and one more will be set up.

“Among these 10 bio villages works of five bio villages have been completed. While work for others are going on in Charilam under Sepahijala district, in Bamutia under West district, Killa under Gomati, Ambassa in Dhalai and in Dumbur Nagar under Dhalai district. As per my concern this is for the first time such kind of bio villages were set up in the Northeast region. Bio Villages is not new but in this kind of bio village have some modifications. In earlier bio villages there were only organic farming but in our case organic farming is just a component apart from this we have incorporated renewable energy”, he said.
