Agartala, May 18: A devastating fire broke out in a residence in Baraj Colony under Belonia Police Station on Saturday at 12:30 PM.
According to eyewitnesses, Samir Das’ daughter was in the kitchen attempting to light the gas stove for cooking when disaster struck. The gas cylinder caught fire unexpectedly causing panic and chaos. With no one else at home except Das’ daughter, she screamed for help as the flames rapidly spread.
Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing her cries, but before they could intervene, the fire had already engulfed the kitchen and adjacent living room. Despite the efforts of the fire department, the living room and kitchen were reduced to ashes. Fortunately, the other rooms in the house were saved from the inferno.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and residents are urged to exercise caution when handling gas appliances.
