Agartala, 25th May 2025: Tripura’s newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag, on Sunday reaffirmed the force’s commitment to maintaining law and order through active public engagement and highlighted ongoing progress in the state’s mission to become drug-free.
The DGP made these remarks during his maiden visit to Unakoti district after assuming charge. He chaired a high-level review meeting with senior police officials to assess the current law and order situation and strategize future actions.
Present at the meeting were Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of various police stations, and senior personnel from other security departments. Also in attendance were DIG (Northern Range) Rati Ranjan Debnath and Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, who oversees both North Tripura and Unakoti districts.
“This is my first visit to Unakoti as DGP. Earlier, I had visited in my capacities as ADG (Law and Order) and DG (Intelligence). The police here are doing a commendable job. Crime in the region has gone down by 24% so far this year,” said DGP Anurag.
He further stated that the meeting involved a comprehensive discussion on strategic planning to enhance law and order. “Our primary focus is on strengthening coordination with the public. Collaborative policing is the way forward. We will intensify efforts in areas that still require improvement.”
Underscoring the importance of community involvement, the DGP added, “Public cooperation is vital. We are working hand-in-hand with citizens to create a peaceful environment. Our commitment to the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s vision of a drug-free Tripura is unwavering. We are making headway, and our initiatives will continue to grow stronger to serve the public better.”
