Agartala, 25th May 2025: The long-abandoned Delhiwala petrol pump at Joynagar, Jirania witnessed a new beginning today as it was officially reopened under the name ‘Ganpati Petrol Pump’, now owned by local businessman Gautam Pal.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by state Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who lit the ceremonial lamp and cut the ribbon marking the formal opening. He was joined by State Assembly Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, Mandal President Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, Chairperson of Jirania Nagar Panchayat Ratan Das and other dignitaries.
Speaking to the media, Minister Chowdhury remarked, “With the reopening of this petrol pump, on the one hand, the people of the area will get services, and on the other hand, those who were working here earlier will get the opportunity to work again. This is undoubtedly a positive step.”
The inauguration was celebrated with Naam Sankirtan and Yagna, adding a spiritual touch to the occasion. A heartfelt clothing distribution program for elderly mothers was also organized, demonstrating a sense of social commitment. Owner Gautam Pal personally handed over garments and mementos to the elderly women in a moving gesture of respect and gratitude.
The event generated considerable enthusiasm among the local community and business sector. Locals expressed optimism, believing that the launch of Ganpati Petrol Pump will serve as a catalyst for economic and social development in Jirania.
