Agartala, 3rd January 2026:   In a major development towards justice in the Prasenjit murder case, the Dharmanagar court has rejected the bail applications of all five accused. The court further ordered that they remain in judicial custody until January 9.

Court sources confirmed that the accused had filed bail petitions three times, including today. However, given the gravity of the case, the seriousness of the crime, and the need to safeguard the ongoing investigation, the court dismissed each application.

Representing Prasenjit’s side, senior advocate Shankar Lodh argued the case, assisted by Debdas Bakshi. On the other hand, the prosecution strongly opposed the bail pleas, presenting necessary documents and arguments to reinforce their stance.

The ruling has brought relief to Prasenjit’s family. Expressing satisfaction, family members said they believe the verdict strengthens their hope for exemplary punishment of the guilty through a speedy trial. They also reiterated their full faith in the administration and judiciary.

The murder of Prasenjit has long fueled tension and protests in the region. Observers believe that today’s decision has rekindled hope and morale among those demanding justice, marking a crucial step forward in the ongoing struggle.
