Dharmanagar District Hospital Turns Hub of Anti-Social Activities, Allege Locals

Date:

Agartala, 19th May 2026: Serious and embarrassing allegations have surfaced surrounding Dharmanagar District Hospital, one of the major healthcare centres in North Tripura. The hospital, which is meant to symbolize public healthcare and safety, has reportedly become a hub for anti-social activities after disturbing items were found scattered across the OPD premises.

According to reports, used contraceptives, drug injection syringes, empty foreign liquor bottles, and several other objectionable materials were discovered inside the hospital compound, triggering outrage among local residents and patients’ families.

Locals have alleged that once evening falls, the hospital premises turn into a safe haven for anti-social elements. Residents claim that alcohol consumption, substance abuse, and other illegal activities are regularly taking place within the hospital campus. Questions are now being raised over the apparent collapse of security arrangements and the alleged negligence of the administration in such a sensitive public healthcare institution.

In a particularly shocking revelation, Medical Superintendent Bhaskar Das claimed that he was unaware of the matter. Speaking to reporters, he stated that the issue had not come to his notice earlier but assured that the allegations would be investigated thoroughly and necessary action would be taken against those found responsible.

The incident has sparked anger among the public, with many questioning how such activities could continue for a long period in a hospital visited daily by thousands of patients and attendants. Locals have accused the authorities of administrative failure, alleging that weak security measures have allowed anti-social groups to operate freely inside the hospital premises.

Patients and their families have expressed deep concern over the deteriorating environment of the healthcare facility. Citizens and members of civil society in Dharmanagar are now demanding an immediate investigation, identification of the culprits, and stricter security measures to restore safety and dignity at the hospital.
