Road Blockade Erupts in Kachuchhara Over Acute Drinking Water Crisis

Date:

Agartala, 19th May 2026:  Severe drinking water scarcity triggered a road blockade in the Kachuchhara area as local residents staged a massive protest demanding immediate intervention from the authorities.

According to the protesters, the area has been suffering from an acute shortage of potable water for a long time. Despite repeatedly informing the administration and the concerned departments, no permanent solution has been provided, leading to growing frustration among the residents.

Holding pitchers and buckets, angry locals took to the streets and blocked the Kachuchhara road in protest. The demonstration brought vehicular movement to a complete standstill, causing long traffic congestion on both sides of the road. Daily commuters and pedestrians faced severe inconvenience due to the disruption.

The affected road, which serves as a crucial link between Ambassa and Kamalpur and is considered the region’s second lifeline, witnessed widespread impact from the blockade.

After receiving information about the protest, police personnel and administrative officials rushed to the spot and attempted to bring the situation under control by assuring the protesters that steps would be taken to resolve the issue. However, a section of the residents stated that they would continue their agitation until they receive a written assurance regarding a permanent solution to the water crisis.

Meanwhile, resentment among the local population continues to intensify over the ongoing shortage of drinking water. Residents warned that the situation could become more serious if urgent measures are not taken soon.
