Dharmanagar Municipal Council celebrates ‘Rakhi Bandhan’ with Juri river as Mother Ganga

Agartala, September 01, 2023: Dharmanagar Municipal Council organized a Rakhi Bandhan festival on Friday at 11 am, inspired by the State Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen. The festival was held at the Juri river, which was revered as the Mother Ganga of the area. The event was attended by all the officers and councilors of the Municipal Council, along with Speaker Sen, Chairperson Pradyut De Sarkar, and renowned philanthropist Shyamal Nath.

Speaker Sen inaugurated the festival and said that every river in India has a connection with Mother Ganga, the sacred river of the nation. He said that every river should be worshiped with respect like Mother Ganga, as the development and prosperity of the country depends on them.

He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of making India a global leader through agricultural development. He said that history has shown that many rich civilizations emerged in India based on the rivers.

He appreciated the Dharmanagar Municipal Council for making the Juri river clean and clear, and for creating a sense of belonging to the river as Mother Ganga. He said that the Juri river is like the Mother Ganga for the people of Dharmanagar.
