Differently-abled woman with epilepsy drowns in fishery at Kailashahar

Agartala, July 02, 2023: In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old differently-abled woman with epilepsy symptoms, identified as Kousola Gowala from Rangrung gram panchayat under Kailashahar police station, drowned in a nearby fishery on Sunday. The unfortunate incident occurred while she was taking a bath in the fishery accompanied by a relative.

Unexpectedly, epilepsy symptoms struck, causing her to fall into the water. The concerned relative hurriedly rushed to the house and informed Kousola’s brother, Babul Gowala. Upon receiving the distressing news, Babul quickly arrived at the scene and commenced a search for his sister in the fishery. Eventually, he found her in a semi-conscious state and promptly carried her out.

Babul immediately rushed Kousola to Unakoti District Hospital, but tragically, she passed away ten minutes after arriving. Babul recounted his efforts, describing how he promptly responded to the news and tirelessly searched the area near the fishery. He spotted Kousola and promptly retrieved her, providing initial care before transporting her to the hospital. Although she remained alive during the journey, her condition deteriorated, leading to her untimely demise within minutes of admission.

This unfortunate incident has left the community grieving the loss of Kousola Gowala, a woman with unique challenges, as they come to terms with this heartbreaking tragedy.
