Agartala, 17th October 2025:   In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision, the Tripura state government has initiated a comprehensive digitization of its public distribution system under the Department of Food and Civil Supplies.

As part of the modernization drive, the state has begun replacing traditional paper ration books with PVC-based digital ration cards for all beneficiaries. Officials from the department stated that the new system is expected to enhance transparency, speed, and accuracy in service delivery.

Today, the distribution of PVC ration cards commenced at ration shops numbered 42 and 87 in Masterpara. The event was attended by Shyamal Deb, Mandal President of the Bardowali Assembly Constituency, along with other BJP leaders.

Speaking at the event, Deb emphasized that the initiative would significantly improve the efficiency and transparency of the public distribution system. “This step marks another milestone in Tripura’s journey toward a truly digital India,” he said.
