Agartala Aug 22: Owing to extremely pathetic condition of road from Eichama to Holy Cross School, Deppachra Buddhist Temple in Karbook subdivision locals blocked the road demanding immediate road reform. The locals alleged that starting from the officials of the concerned department to the public representatives of the area, the demand for road reform has been made repeated times, but no one paid any attention to the issue till date.

Finding no solution to the problem, Monday hundreds of local women blocked the road in Taishama area under Natun Bazar police station. Holding placards in their hands women from  three villages of West Ekchari, North Ekchari and Poangbari blocked the road.  Many vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road due to road blockade.  The police of Notun Bazar police station reached the spot on learning about the road blockade.

DCM of Korbook Sub-division Administration and Junior Engineer of Public Works Department came to the spot and spoke to the agitators but they refused to call off their agitation.  The protestors’ said that the road from Taishama to Janak Para should be repaired quickly. After long hours of road blockade, the SDO of the Public Works Department came and assured the agitators to resolve the issue as early as possible. Later, the  blockade was lifted after receiving specific assurances from the authorities.
