Agartala, November 06: A disaster management drill was conducted at Michael Madhusudan Datta College in Sabroom under the initiative of the Sabroom sub-divisional administration. The drill aimed to train the students and staff on how to protect themselves and help others in case of any natural calamity.
The drill was attended by DCM Ratan Das from the Sabroom sub-divisional administration, Dr. Anupam Guha, the principal of Michael Madhusudan Datta College, and Naik Subedar Pintu Das from the TSR 9th Battalion.
Dr Guha said that the current weather and climate situation in the country indicates that any kind of natural disaster can occur at any moment. He said that it is necessary to alert the people repeatedly and create awareness among them. He said that the conscious citizens, the teachers’ community and the local administration can play a role in creating awareness among the people. He said that the national media is broadcasting the dos and don’ts for the people in case of various disasters such as lightning, cyclone, earthquake, etc. He said that prior caution can save the people from massive loss of life in any disaster.
DCM Das said that the drill was organized to teach the students and staff how to cope with a disaster situation. He said that the drill demonstrated how the students and staff can save themselves and extend their helping hands to others in a disaster situation. He said that the drill was very useful and informative for the participants.
The drill was followed by a question-answer session where the students and staff interacted with the experts and cleared their doubts. The drill was appreciated by all the participants and the organizers.
