Agartala: November 06: The state-level 20th Owa Festival, a cultural celebration of the Mog community, was inaugurated by the union minister of state Pratima Bhowmik at the Taikarm Higher Secondary School ground in Santirbazar subdivision. The two-day festival, which started on Monday will showcase the rich and diverse traditions of the Mogs, who are one of the indigenous tribes of Tripura.
The inaugural ceremony of the Owa Festival was attended by the MLA and Minister of Jolaibari constituency Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA of Manu constituency Mailafru Mog, the MDCs Konjai Mog and Sanjib Reang, the Santirbazar SDM Abhedananda Baidya and others.
The speakers at the event explained the significance and history of the Owa Festival and also highlighted the various developmental schemes of the state and central governments. The festival attracted a large number of people from the area, who participated in various cultural and sports activities.
