Agartala, September 16, 2022: A dispute has been reported at Salthang Manu ADC village under Santirbazar sub-division over demarcation of graveyard next to a Muslim mosque. People of Muslim community claimed that this plot of land belonged to them while Bru people are obstructing the burial due to the construction of the temple of the Bru in the neighboring area. The burial on Friday created a heated situation in the entire area.
DC Saptaparni Majumder, DC Anupam Chakraborty of Santirbazar SDM office came to the spot after receiving information about the incident. A large police force was deployed at the spot under the leadership of Santirbazar Police Station OC Biswajit Debray to bring the situation under control. Later, in the presence of all, the place for the graveyard of the Muslims was decided by talking to both parties.
Regarding this dispute, DC Saptaparni Majumdar told the media that Santirbazar sub-division has declared burial at this place as per the order of the magistrate. So a place has been designated by the procession to bury them. In the meantime, if Muslims have any kind of query, they can submit it in written form, DC said.
On the other hand, it was reported from the Muslim side that Bru is forcibly occupying their graves and this leads to problem. The people of Muslim community told reporters, a special request was made to the prosecution and the state government to take proper action in this regard. So that there is no dispute about burial in the future.
The land in Salthang Manu area that is being disputed between the two sides is mainly the Forest department land. The government occupied the place and there is a constant dispute between the two sides. Residents want the government to take proper action in this matter as soon as possible. So as not to create an atmosphere of unrest in the area. Now it is to be seen what kind of action the government takes in this regard.
