Bishalgarh: July 18, 2023: A team from the Sepahijala district administration conducted a special operation in the Bishalgarh market to curb irregularities. Several shops were shut down for violations during the drive.
The team, led by Food Department official Nirmal Adhikari and Bishalgarh SDM Binay Bhushan Das, along with other officials, targeted vendors selling unpackaged food items, bakeries, and fruit and vegetable vendors during the raid.
The operation focused on inspecting price tags and quality of goods. Many shops were found lacking proper price tags and displayed signs indicating that the food products would remain consumable for the next 30 days, without any specific date of manufacture. The cleanliness and hygiene standards of the food preparation areas also raised concerns, as many of the vendors were found operating in unclean and unsanitary conditions.
This isn’t the first time the authorities have issued warnings to these businesses. A warning was issued to them a week ago, urging them to adhere to the regulations. However, it appears that some of the vendors did not take the warning seriously, prompting the district administration to take strict action.
During the operation, the team sealed off Maa Kali Sweets, and Shiv Sundar Bakery for not meeting the required standards. Additionally, vendors without proper price signage were directed to put up display boards immediately.
The district administration assured that such operations will continue in the coming days to ensure that all businesses comply with regulations.
