Agartala, June 27, 2023: Kamal Hossain of Putia village panchayat area under Boxanagar block got married 20 years back to Milan Bibi, resident of Mohanbhog village in Melaghar.

After 5 years of their marriage, Hossain married a Bangladeshi woman again and started torturing his first wife Bibi. After the intolerable torture, Bibi left her husband Kamal Hussain’s house and moved to some place in Putiya along with her kid.

When Bibi’s son moved out of the state for work, her husband started pressuring her to give him money. Last Saturday, Hossain forcefully entered to Bibi’s house and asked for money. When she refused, he attacked her with a rod. Bibi fell unconscious, and believing her to be dead, Hossain fled the scene.

Neighbours later took her to Boxanagar Hospital, but due to the severity of her condition, she was referred to GB Hospital in Agartala for further treatment. She is currently receiving medical care at Melaghar Hospital, where it was found that she sustained injuries to her hands, back of the head, chest, and head.

Following the incident, Bibi filed a written case against her husband, at Kalamchoura police station yesterday. However, the police have not taken any action to arrest the accused. Hossain is freely roaming around in his area, Putiya, and boasting to people that the police cannot touch him. He is also making threats, claiming that if his wife returns to Boxanagar, he will kill her.
