Dr BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebrated in state

Agartala, April 14, 2023: The 133rd birth anniversary of India’s Dr BR Ambedkar was celebrated on Friday morning at Ujjayanta Palace premises under the initiative of SC Welfare department.

At first, Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha paid tribute by offering garlands to the statue. Thereafter Dr Ambedkar’s statue was garlanded by SC Welfare minister Sudhangshu Das, AMC Mayor Dr Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, former Principal Rebati Mohan Das, former MLA Dr Dilip Das, department’s Special Secretary Abhishek Chandra, Director Santosh Das etc.

Later, speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said, the birth anniversary of Bharatratna Dr BR Ambedkar is being celebrated across the country today. Dr BR Ambedkar spent most of his life fighting for the rights of people from the backward sections of the society. Later, Dr. BR Ambedkar established himself as a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer.

He was the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee during the drafting of the Constitution of India. The Chief Minister also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi Bharat Ratna. As a tribute to BR Ambedkar, his birthday has been declared a public holiday. The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for this.

The teachers and students of Agartala Sachin Debbarman Smriti Sangeet Mahavidyalaya presented a cultural program on the occasion.
