Agartala, September 20, 2023: In a significant operation, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tapas Malakar of Kalyanpur police station apprehended a suspected drug lord on Tuesday night, following a tip-off.
The daring raid resulted in the confiscation of prohibited narcotics, including illegal brown sugar and heroin, with a total weight of approximately 5.23 grams, as confirmed by a police official.
The accused, identified as 26-year-old Dhanraj Sarkar and a resident of the Shantipara area in Ghilatli, was taken into custody at the summit of the Moharchhara Bridge.
Shockingly, Sarkar, known to be working as a door-to-door visitor, is alleged to have amassed substantial wealth through the illicit drug trade.
OC Tapas Malakar of Kalyanpur police station stated that this arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the battle against drug-related criminal activities.
Investigations are ongoing, and Sarkar will face legal proceedings for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and possession.
