Agartala Municipal Corporation takes extensive measures for ‘Sharadiya Durgotsava’

Agartala, September 20, 2023: In anticipation of the upcoming ‘Sharadiya Durgotsava’ festival, the Agartala Municipal Corporation has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to ensure a seamless experience for residents and visitors alike. The Municipal Corporation’s Council convened a meeting on Wednesday under the guidance of Mayor Dipak Majumder to deliberate on crucial decisions.

During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to undertake the rehabilitation of roads in Agartala city and the Agartala Municipal Corporation area to mitigate any inconvenience faced by the festival attendees. Additionally, plans were laid out for the renovation of Dashmighat, an iconic location in Agartala.

Mayor Majumder emphasized the significance of this meeting, highlighting the substantial influx of visitors from various parts of the state who converge on Agartala during ‘Sharadotsava’. Ensuring a hassle-free experience for these visitors has been a priority for Agartala Municipal Corporation.

The municipal corporation will implement the same measures that have proven successful in previous years, including imposing certain restrictions on idol immersion by clubs and devotees. Road renovation projects will be initiated in every ward of the Municipal Corporation in preparation for ‘Sharadotsav’. An allocation of five crore rupees has been earmarked in this year’s budget for these renovation efforts.

Furthermore, the Municipal Corporation has initiated regular cleaning of waste and garbage to maintain a clean environment throughout the festival.

Following the council meeting, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Yadav, and other corporators visited Dashmighat on the Howrah River in Agartala. They identified areas in need of improvement and initiated measures to expedite the required work.

Notably, Dashmighat plays a pivotal role in Agartala’s ‘Durgotsava’ celebrations, where grand idol processions are held. In summary, the Agartala Municipal Corporation is actively engaged in preparations for ‘Sharadotsav’, ensuring a memorable and seamless experience for all participants.
