Tripura cabinet approves new posts, e-cabinet and tribal development mission: Sushanta Chowdhury

Agartala, September 20, 2023: In the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday, several important decisions regarding education, sports, tribal welfare and paperless administration has been taken.

Speaking to media persons here at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday evening, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, the cabinet approved the creation of 125 physical education teacher posts and 125 school librarian posts under the School Education department. These posts will be mainly recruited in schools under the ‘Vidyajyoti’ scheme, which aims to provide quality education to the students.

The cabinet also decided to directly appoint eight sports officers under the state youth affairs and sports department through a three-stage qualifying examination conducted by TPSC. These are Group-B Gazetted posts that will oversee the development of sports in the state.

The minister further said that the cabinet gave its nod to fill 50 Group-C Supervisor vacancies in Janjati Kalyan Department and Scheduled Caste Welfare Department on fixed-pay basis. These supervisors will monitor the implementation of various schemes and programs for the welfare of the tribal and SC communities.

The cabinet also sanctioned 14 teaching posts in various subjects of Maharaja Bir Bikram University under the Department of Higher Education. This includes four professors, four associate professors and six assistant professors. In addition, 75 assistant professors will be appointed in various subjects for general degree colleges of the state.

The minister announced that the cabinet decided to start e-cabinet in the state to promote paperless administration. He said that this was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of digital governance. The e-cabinet will enable faster and smoother decision-making process by using online platforms and applications.

The minister also highlighted that the cabinet approved the launch of ‘Chief Minister’s Tribal Development Mission’ for the overall welfare of the tribal people. He said that this was a sincere effort of the government to fulfill its election promises and state budget announcements. The mission will have a financial allocation of Rs 30 crore in the first year, which will be increased as per requirement. The mission will focus on creating employment opportunities by enhancing the skills of the youth, as well as providing roads and drinking water facilities in the tribal areas.

The minister expressed his confidence that the decisions taken by the cabinet today will have a positive impact on the development of education, health and self-reliance of the people. He said that the government was committed to work for the welfare of all sections of society.
