Agartala, 6th September 2026 : Sonamura Police have arrested a suspected drug peddler in connection with the illegal narcotics trade in the area, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, Tapas Das, said on Sunday.
According to Das, the accused was arrested by a special police team following information regarding his alleged involvement in drug trafficking. He is currently being interrogated at Sonamura Police Station.During the initial interrogation, the police have reportedly obtained the names of several individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade. The names are now being verified by officials from both the state and central intelligence agencies.
Das said that further action would be taken against those found to be involved after verification and collection of appropriate evidence.Police are continuing the investigation to identify and dismantle the wider network involved in the illegal narcotics trade in the Sonamura area.
