Agartala, 19th June 2026: Joint left-wing youth and student organizations, including SFI, DYFI, and TYF Sadar Division, staged a demonstration outside the Agartala Head Post Office on Friday protesting the recovery of illegal narcotics from the Postal department on Thursday.
The demonstration called for a comprehensive investigation into how public utilities are being exploited for drug trafficking. While the police intercepted a major consignment of contraband within the post office, youth leaders urged authorities to trace the official paperwork and punish the high-level networks facilitating these shipments.
According to party representatives, this incident follows a massive drug haul from a railway wagon a few months ago and another significant postal bust just a week prior. The matter has sparked widespread concern amid allegations that these illicit consignments are systematically originating from BJP-ruled Gujarat.
Addressing reporters, the youth leader raised serious questions over the state’s security, pointing out the contradiction between the Chief Minister’s public promises of a “Zero Tolerance” policy against drugs and the reality of state-regulated infrastructure being used as an open transit corridor. The delegation concluded by calling on all citizens to unite beyond party flags to resist the growing drug menace.
