Agartala, 15th November 2023:  In a major operation spearheaded by Officer-in-Charge Debashis Saha, the Melaghar police station conducted a successful raid on the residence of Farooq Hossain in the Indiranagar area. The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial cache of illegal drugs, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 1 crore.

Late on Tuesday night, the Tripura Police confiscated 35,200 Yaba tablets and 158 bottles of Phensidyl, which were discreetly hidden in an abandoned room within Farooq Hossain’s residence. The culmination of this operation followed days of meticulous surveillance and investigation prompted by information obtained from undisclosed sources.

On Wednesday, Sepahijala Superintendent of Police B Reddy visited the site of the raid, commending the police force for the success of the operation. During a press briefing, he revealed that the police had been monitoring the activities of the accused, Farooq Hossain, for the past 3-4 days based on intelligence reports.

The Superintendent of Police highlighted the estimated value of the confiscated drugs and announced an ongoing investigation into individuals linked to the incident. “We have been receiving information about the stockpiling of these drugs for the past few days. Our officers worked diligently to monitor Farooq Hossain before executing the operation,” he stated.

Despite the raid, Farooq Hossain managed to evade arrest as he was reportedly not present at his residence during the operation. However, the police have gathered information about his current whereabouts. Superintendent Reddy assured that efforts are actively underway to locate and apprehend the accused, stating, “Farooq Hossain may be arrested soon; we are actively pursuing leads.”

This successful drug bust stands as a significant triumph for law enforcement in their continuous battle against illegal substances in the region. The police are persistently working to dismantle any associated networks and ensure that justice is served in this case.
