Drugs worth Rs 20 lakh seized in two operations by Tripura Police

Agartala, 11th July 2024:  Tripura Police have seized contraband worth over Rs 20 lakh in two separate operations within the past 24 hours. The first operation, a joint effort by Assam Rifles and Tripura Police, took place late Wednesday night at the residence of Hussain Ali in Dharmanagar sub-division of Tripura’s North District. Acting on confidential information, authorities recovered 22.5 grams of heroin valued at Rs 1 lakh from Ali’s house. However, Hussain Ali managed to escape upon realizing the presence of law enforcement.

In a separate incident on Thursday, Tripura Police conducted a raid at Brahmakunda village in Mohanpur Sub-division of Tripura’s West District. Acting on intelligence, they targeted Rupak Bhattacharya’s residence and seized 4,000 Yaba tablets estimated to be worth Rs 20 lakh. Bhattacharya fled the scene before police could apprehend him. Investigations are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect.
