Dumboornagar ED Block: CSP workers lock block office over unpaid wages

Date:

Agartala, 6th April 2026:  Nearly 200 women employees under the Dumboornagar Block staged a dramatic protest on Monday, locking the block office in anger over unpaid wages. The workers, employed under Customer Service Point (CSP) schemes, alleged that despite working continuously for the past seven months, they have not received any remuneration.

Repeated appeals to the authorities have reportedly gone unanswered, prompting the workers to take this drastic step. They declared that the office will remain locked until their pending salaries are cleared.

The protest comes at a sensitive time, with the Garia Puja and Biju festival approaching. Workers said they have been compelled to perform an additional 45 days of duty, for which they were promised an advance of Rs 5,000. However, even that payment has not been made.

When officials suggested that locking the block office would not resolve the issue and advised them to approach the district office instead, the demonstrators insisted they had no choice. Many of them travel long distances for work and depend entirely on their wages to run their households.

The workers vowed to continue their agitation until their dues are paid in full.
