Agartala, 29th April 2025:  Agartala witnessed a spirited protest march today as members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) took to the streets, demanding employment opportunities, an end to corruption, and stricter measures against drug abuse.

The march was organized by the local committees of Agartala, South Agartala, East Agartala and Central Banamalipur began at Netaji Chowmuhani and traversed various city roads.

An activist participating in the march voiced strong criticism of the current state governance. “The governance in the state has hit rock bottom. There is no semblance of the rule of law anymore,” he said. Highlighting the growing unemployment crisis, he added, “Young men and women are wandering aimlessly in search of work, while ministers sit in the Secretariat, deceiving them every day. The BJP government has failed to fulfill even a single promise made in 2018.”

The activist further emphasized the organization’s commitment to social change, stating, “When people realized the BJP government’s empty promises, the leftist youth organizations stepped up to fight for a better society.”

He also raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of drug abuse in Tripura. “The state has turned into an empire of drugs, yet the administration remains indifferent and fails to take strict action,” he remarked.

The protest march reflected the growing frustration among the youth and their determination to bring about meaningful change in the state.
