Agartala, 30th March 2026: With the upcoming by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency drawing near, the Left Front has intensified its outreach efforts. On Monday morning, CPI(M) leaders and workers carried out a vibrant campaign in support of party nominee Amitabh Dutta, engaging directly with residents and traders in the bustling Purba Bazaar area.

Party leaders, including Nabarun Deb, state committee member and state secretary of DYFI, and Arjun Nath, Dharmanagar sub-divisional secretary, led the march. Youth leaders such as Salman Khan and Avinash Debnath, along with several district and local representatives, also joined the initiative.

The campaign saw leaders and volunteers visiting shops and market lanes, appealing for votes and blessings for Dutta. They highlighted what they described as the failures of the current government and urged people to support CPI(M)’s candidate to restore citizens’ rights. Traders welcomed the candidate with handshakes and shared their grievances, while Nabarun Deb emphasized the need for a “fighter like Amitabh Dutta” to represent Dharmanagar’s demands for development in the assembly constituency.

The atmosphere in the constituency is heating up, with the ruling BJP conducting its own grassroots outreach. CPI(M)’s energetic street-level campaign, marked by strong youth participation, has added fresh enthusiasm among voters as the contest gains momentum.
