Agartala, 1st August 2025: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has sharply criticized the state government for allegedly failing to fill thousands of vacant posts across departments, accusing the ruling party of propagating “false success” while ignoring a critical promise made in 2018.
Speaking at a press conference at Chhatra Yuva Bhavan on Friday, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun De and President Palash Bhowmik stated that the government had created only 19,000 jobs over the past seven years and four months—far short of its initial commitment.
“When the BJP took office in 2018, it pledged to fill nearly 50,000 vacant posts within a year,” said De. “Instead, 30,000 government employees retired during this period, and vacancies are being slashed annually by over 3,000 positions.”
Referring to data presented in the last assembly session, DYFI leaders claimed that 62 percent of vacancies—covering departments like Education (12,190 posts), Health (7,675 and an additional 7,315 in related sectors), DWS, and Public Works (4,328 posts)—fall under ministries overseen by the Chief Minister.
The youth leaders also flagged serious gaps in educational infrastructure, alleging that 2,167 schools are operating without head teachers and 1,619 engineering positions remain unfilled.
Responding to the allegations, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, speaking at a Pragya Bhavan event on Thursday, countered that previous Left Front governments distributed jobs directly from party offices—a claim DYFI dismissed as “baseless propaganda.” Bhowmik called on the Chief Minister to provide proof and warned of statewide protests in the coming days.
