Agartala, 5th May 2025:  Hundreds of members of the Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took to the streets in Bishramganj under Sepahijala District on Monday afternoon, launching a massive protest demanding employment, an end to corruption, and strict measures against the growing drug trade in Tripura.

The protest march, which saw participation from activists across three subdivisions of Sepahijala district, began at the motor stand in Bishramganj market and wound its way through various parts of the town before culminating in front of the Sepahijala District Magistrate’s office.

The rally was led by DYFI State Committee Secretary Nabarun Dey and saw a sea of red flags flood the market area, leaving local traders and pedestrians visibly startled by the scale of the demonstration.

Addressing the crowd, Dey outlined the three-point charter of demands: immediate employment generation, an end to what the organizations called the “empire of corruption and reign of jungle law,” and urgent action to curb the rampant drug menace in the region.

Following the rally, leaders from both youth organizations submitted a deputation to the District Magistrate’s office. However, with the DM reportedly leaving the office earlier than scheduled, the memorandum was handed over to his personal assistant.
