East Agartala Police nab notorious thief, recover stolen gold

Agartala, 11th April 2025:   The East Agartala police have successfully apprehended a notorious thief and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth over two lakh rupees. According to SDPO Debaprasad Roy, the arrest is expected to shed light on the operations of the thief gang through rigorous interrogation.

Roy stated, “On April 25 last month, a group of thieves broke into the house of Gautam Das, a resident of Chittaranjan area, and looted all the gold ornaments along with cash.” Following the incident, Swapan Kumar Banik, the owner of a local shop, filed a formal complaint with the East Agartala police station. Acting swiftly, the police launched an investigation based on the complaint and conducted raids at various locations.

During the operation, one suspect was arrested and brought to the police station for questioning. “The suspect confessed to the theft under interrogation, leading to the recovery of the stolen gold ornaments,” Roy added.

The confiscated gold ornaments, valued at over two lakh rupees, have now been secured by the police. The arrested individual is set to be produced before the court today under police remand.
