Education Minister opens Academic Block 2 at Santirbazar College

Agartala Sept 14: Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the Academic Block 2 at Santirbazar Government Degree College on Wednesday.

Notably in the year 2012 the Santirbazar Degree College was constructed on 18 acres of land in Betaga area. In the past the College did not had any Science Department. Later, to improve the education of the students of the college, the state government decided to start Science department in the college. For which the construction of Academy Block 2 started on October 17, 2017 and completed on March 20, 2019.

A total of Rs 4 cr 22 lakhs was spent to construct the Academic Block 2. The newly constructed building was inaugurated amid a ceremony on Wednesday through the hands of Tripura Education and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath.Apart from that Santirbazar MLA Pramod Reang, Belonia MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik, Education Department Director NC Sharma, College Principal Dr. Sanjay Das remained present in the event.

The principal of the College, Dr Sanjay Das presented the various infrastructural aspects of the college in his welcome address. Besides, he appealed to the Minister of Education for the construction of a college gate next to the national highway and construction of quarters for the college professors. According to sources, the presence of college students was negligible in the day’s event. Instead, the program was completed by bringing the students of the neighboring school. On the other hand, allegations of poor quality work have been raised in connection to the construction of the new building constructed by the Department of Public Works. However, the Minister of Education Ratan Lal Nath did not make any comment in this regard. He lauded the state government and its initiatives taken for the development for the people of Tripura.
