Agartala, 26th February 2025: In a tragic road accident, a 65-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a speeding motorcycle in the Jharjhari area under Belonia police station. The deceased, identified as Bhanu Sen, a resident of Belonia South Mirzapur Match Factory area, was on his way to meet his close relative, Rina Biswas of Jagatpur, when the accident occurred.
According to reports, Bhanu Sen, who delivered milk to various houses every evening, was riding his bicycle when a Pulsar bike, bearing registration number TAR 08 B 8976, collided with him from behind. The impact caused him to fall off his bicycle, leading to his death on the spot. The bike was being ridden by Rahul Majumdar, a contract account officer at Pauang Bari RD Block.
Majumdar claimed that Bhanu Sen abruptly swerved from the right to the left side of the road, making it difficult for him to control his bike and avoid the collision. Both the elderly man and the rider fell due to the crash. Following the incident, the Belonia Fire Department was alerted, and a rescue vehicle was dispatched to the scene. Bhanu Sen was rushed to Belonia Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. His body has been sent for autopsy, and it will be handed over to his family tomorrow. Meanwhile, Belonia police acted swiftly, arresting Rahul Majumdar along with seizing the motorcycle involved in the accident. Sources indicate that the deceased’s family is preparing to file a case against Majumdar, holding him responsible for the fatal mishap.
