Agartala, 10th June 2026: An 85-year-old resident of Chaudhuripara area under Satchand subdivision has alleged that his government old age pension has been stopped for the past three to four months, leaving him in severe financial distress.
The elderly beneficiary, identified as Jay Kumar Tripura, said that the monthly pension was his primary source of support for daily expenses in his final years. However, the abrupt halt in payments has pushed him into hardship, he claimed.
According to him, despite repeated visits to the concerned government offices and multiple attempts to resolve the issue, no satisfactory response has been received so far. He expressed frustration over the delay in restoring his pension.
Jay Kumar Tripura further alleged that while newly approved pension beneficiaries are receiving their payments regularly at the beginning of each month, several long-time beneficiaries like him have been left out for the past few months without explanation.
He has urged authorities to release all pending dues and ensure the immediate restoration of his pension. Local residents have also called on the administration to urgently investigate the matter and take necessary corrective action, stressing that depriving elderly citizens of their rightful benefits is unacceptable.
