Agartala, 19th April 2026: Sensation gripped a locality under the Nandi Tilla area after the body of an elderly woman was recovered from her residence on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Laxmi Karmakar (80), who was reportedly living alone at her home. According to sources, she is survived by three sons and three daughters, all of whom reside elsewhere.
The incident came to light when a neighbour, noticing no response from the house in the morning, entered the premises and found the woman lying unconscious. Family members were immediately informed, following which police were alerted.
A team from the Tripura Police reached the spot and initiated an inquiry. Forensic experts along with a dog squad were also deployed to examine the scene.
Police later recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
