Agartala, 1st June 2025:  Power department’s Bishramganj Electric Office Manager Anirban Debbarma was allegedly assaulted while on duty with his shirt collar dragged and foul language directed at him. The attack also extended to helper Rabindra Chasha, junior operator Prasenjit Debnath and driver Jhuton Debnath, who were verbally abused.

In response, Senior Manager Sourav Reang along with Manager Baithun Debbarma and other electrical workers united against the accused and lodged a formal complaint with Bishramganj Police Station at 11 AM today. The accused identified as Dipak Debbarma, Ritesh Laskar and Anendu Debbarma are residents of Vivekananda Palli and Masterpara in Bishramganj.

Following the FIR filing, the Senior Manager addressed the media, emphasizing their demand for strict legal action against the perpetrators. “If workers are attacked inside the electricity office despite providing 24-hour service, where is our safety?” he questioned. Authorities from the electricity corporation have been informed, and the workers warned that if justice is not served, they will escalate their protest in the coming days.

Police officials have not yet released an official statement on the matter.
