Agartala, November 03: Two workers sustained serious injuries after an electric pole collapsed on the VIP road near Natunnagar Bazar on Friday. The incident caused panic among the locals, who rushed to rescue the victims and take them to the hospital.
According to sources, the workers were climbing the pole to disconnect the electric cable in the VIP road area around noon. However, the pole was unstable and broke down, falling on the road along with the workers. The workers suffered multiple injuries and were bleeding profusely.
The locals, who witnessed the accident, immediately alerted the police and the ambulance. They also helped the injured workers and carried them to a nearby hospital. The condition of the workers is said to be critical.
The police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cause of the pole collapse. They have also registered a case against the contractor and the electric department for negligence and violation of safety norms. The authorities have assured to take strict action against the culprits and provide compensation to the injured workers.
