Electricity worker electrocuted while shutting down transformer at Dhanpur

Agartala, 6th November 2025:  A 35-year-old assistant electricity worker, Ishak Hau Mulsum, tragically died of electrocution this afternoon while working near Dhanpur market in Tripura. Mulsum, a resident of Killa in Udaipur subdivision, was employed at the Dhanpur Electricity Investigation Centre under the Kathalia sub-station.

The incident took place when Mulsum attempted to shut down a high-voltage transformer on the ST line during routine maintenance with colleagues. He was critically injured on the spot and succumbed before fire service teams from Kathalia and Sonamura could arrive. He was later declared dead at Dhanpur Primary Health Centre.

Local MLA Bindu Debnath and social worker Biswajit Bhowmik visited the site and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Debnath assured that the administration would extend necessary support. Grief swept through the electricity department, with colleagues remembering Mulsum as a diligent and responsible worker. Locals urged authorities to ensure such accidents do not recur due to negligence.
