Agartala, September 15: Tripura celebrated the 56th Engineers Day on Friday to honour the contributions of engineers in various fields and sectors. Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath praised the role of engineers in building a better Tripura and said that the current government thinks positively in everything.
He said that India is number one in digital and ranks second in steel and automobile industry, thanks to the efforts of engineers. He also said that the corporation is thinking of installing 100 percent smart meter to eliminate any question about electricity bill. He added that the underground cable work has started in Agartala city to improve the power supply.
The Power Minister was speaking at the Engineers Day workshop jointly organized by Tripura Power Transmission Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. Apart from him, Abhishek Singh, Secretary of the Electricity Department, MD Debasish Sarkar of Tripura State Electricity Corporation and others were also present.
He said that the future generation should be informed about the elite technologists to develop the youth as engineers and encourage them to use their skills and knowledge for the welfare of the society. He said that engineers have to take responsibility and this day is a day to recognize their work.
Earlier, a morning ferry was organized from Nazrul Kalakshetra in the capital under the initiative of Public Works Department, All Engineering Service Association, Engineering Institutes and Professional Engineering Organization in Tripura. The Power Minister inaugurated the procession, which went around the city. Chief Engineer Rajib Debbarma, Deputy Secretary PWD Rajib Debbarma and others were also present.
