Ex-CM Manik Sarkar alleges hospital entry blocked

Date:

Agartala 20th July 2026:  Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, and Left Front Convenor Manik Dey rushed to GB Pant Hospital on Monday after learning about the critical condition of Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar.

However, they alleged that West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar prevented them from proceeding further inside the hospital. By the time they arrived, the DGP had passed away.

After meeting Dhankar’s wife, Sarkar spoke to the media and alleged that some officials attempted to stop them from entering. “There were doctors and officers. One or two officers did not want us to go inside and tried to force us out. I had to scold one of them. I don’t know who he is, but I was shocked by such behaviour,” Sarkar said.
