Ex Ranji Cricketers beat TSJC in a friendly cricket match

Agartala, 4th March 2026 :  A friendly T-20  cricket match was held on Wednesday at MBB Stadium between the Tripura Sports Journalists’ Club and the Former Ranji Players  of the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA).

After winning the toss, Tripura Sports Journalists’ Club captain Abhishek Dey opted to field first. Batting first, the TCA Former XI put up a massive total of 232 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The innings was powered by a blistering 103 off 47 balls by Bappa Das and a quickfire 41 off 19 deliveries by Aniruddha Saha, along with 13 extra runs.

For the Sports Journalists’ Club, Dibyendu Dey picked up three wickets, while captain Abhishek Dey claimed two.

Chasing a daunting target of 233 runs, the Tripura Sports Journalists’ Club were bowled out for 134 runs in their 20 overs, handing the TCA Former XI a comprehensive 98-run victory.

With the bat, Manoj Das was the top scorer for the Sports Journalists’ Club with 43 runs, while Prasenjit Saha contributed 23 and Meghadhan Deb added 14. In the bowling department for the Former XI, Kamal Das, Tapas Mondal, and Shubhankar Debnath took two wickets each.

The high-spirited friendly match witnessed the presence of several dignitaries at MBB Stadium, including Tripura Cricket Association Secretary Subrata Dey, Treasurer Basudev Chakraborty, Tripura Sports Journalists’ Club President Saraju Chakraborty, Secretary Anirban Deb, and others. The guests later presented trophies to both teams at the conclusion of the match.
